What Our Interns Say

My internship helped me develop collaboration skills that helped me lead 9312’s programming and strategy teams. I learned how to use a CNC router through a design and programming project involving robot odometry.
Maxwell,
Intern

My skills at FIRST directly translated over to my internship. I helped assemble the electrical and hydraulic systems on a $500,000 omni directional robot that lifts 60,000lbs. My internship helped me understand what I love to do and explore potential future career paths.
Lincoln,
Intern

My experience at FIRST helped me get a head start in my internship, as it taught me LabVIEW, which is something I used in my internship a lot. The internship also taught me more non-FRC specific programs, and learned how to better share and communicate results. This internship allowed me to experience what it was like to be a programmer before I entered the workforce, which allowed me to find that I wanted to be a programmer. This is part of the reason I decided to go to college for programming, and to shape my career as a programmer.
Paige,
Intern

My internship helped me develop a work ethic and an understanding of the engineering process. This helped me improve my designing and fabricating of a ‘Super pit’ for the FRC team, improve my CAD, and learn how to fabricate and weld, skills that I’m still using today. And I now have a working position at Caster Concepts. Every company has a lot of very talented people to learn from, especially Caster Concepts and Conceptual Innovations, and it was one of the greatest learning experiences of my life.
Ian,
Intern

I learned to use solidworks and onshape efficiently, and for manufacturing I learned how to use a CNC router to rapidly produce sheet metal parts. I was able to work directly in the Conceptual Innovations shop, where I worked with complex hydraulic systems and learned to be meticulous in my assembly processes.
Bryson,
Intern
